Effective sun blocking for south facing home windows: Suggestions?
19/06/2018 13:44
HI,

Continuing my process of dealing with the problem that the upstairs of my house gets uninhabitably hot in the summer, combined with the expectation that this will be a hot summer for Seattle:
What's a way of blocking sun from coming in windows and heating things up? I have some thin blinds I can close, but they don't seem to be great at actually stopping sun - they're plastic, heat up, and let an awful lot of light through when I'd rather it block most of it out.I've considered aluminum foil coated cardboard, but I think this might look Against HOA regulations" from outside - as might plain cardboard.Does anyone have suggestions for methods that look decent, are easily removable if we actually want sun, and aren't terribly expensive?I rent, so things like shutters are out. I've considered replacing the blinds, but that's fairly expensive for just one more summer.Thoughts?

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
