An additional sum of about LVL 161,000 is needed for renovations on the Latvian National Theater building, Olegs Burovs from the Riga City Council's Property Department told Riga Mayor Gundars Bojars at a presentation of renovated sections of the building during an open house at the Riga theater today.
According to Burovs, the increasing renovation costs were created by an increase in prices for renovation of the building's roof constructions, plastering, flame-retardant paint, and others.
According to the official, the National Theater's annex has been constructed 45 percent, LVL 409,000 have been spent on the project.
Overall, the National Theater has been renovated 35 percent, LVL 1.2 million have been spent on the project out of the LVL 4.2 million allotted for it.
According to Burovs, state financing of LVL 2.6 million has been requested for purchasing equipment needed for the theater. Interior remodeling requires an additional LVL 600,000 or so. If the state provides funds for the equipment, the Riga City Council could try to find money for the interior, Burovs said.
If allotting additional financing is delayed, there will also be delays in concluding renovations, Burovs said. Currently, the job proceeds on schedule.
