"Arbo" Ltd passive timber windows and doors tests show the maximum results and exceed standards

"Arbo" Ltd in cooperation with the German aluminum producer "Gutmann" AG made the air permeability and water-tightness test of passive timber windows and doors and in result reached and exceeded the maximum classification results stated in standards.


Air permeability test of inwards opening passive window from pine with Gutmann MIRA therm 08 claddings, double glazing and German Roto Designo fittings with hidden hinges produced by "Arbo" Ltd reached the fourth or the highest class and endured more than 600 Pa large pressure. In water-tightness test, the window withstood a pressure of 950 Pa, which is about 97 kg of weight force per 1 m2, and for a comparison the maximum water-tightness class according to EN 12208 for the windows and doors is 9A or 600 Pa. Also, pine inwards opening passive doors with Gutmann MIRA therm 08 claddings, German BAKA Simonswerk hinges, KFV fittings and low aluminum threshold in the air permeability test reached the fourth class. At the same time the water-tightness test achieved results 950 Pa for locked and 600 Pa for unlocked doors.

"We are very pleased about the excellent results of the tests because this was a kind of rehearsal before the tests this week in notified UK laboratory, carried out by BM TRADA. These tests will help to reassure our customers about the high quality of windows and doors," says "Arbo" Ltd Sales Director Edmunds Domkins.
This window meets the requirements of Secured by Design – the project of Great Britain’s Association of Chief Police Officers to promote the protection of houses and commercial premises against crime. At the same time the doors meet PAS 24 standard, which determines enhanced security performance requirements in UK for doors assemblies.

Tests were conducted in the Gutmann AG laboratory, verified by international notified body – the German window and door testing and certification laboratory IFT Rosenheim.
The classification of test results for air permeability is determined by standard EN 12207 and for water-tightness by standard EN 12208.

"Arbo" Ltd is a large capacity timber window and door manufacturer and exporter, as well as a local construction company in Ventspils city. The company was established in 1991 year, it employs 72 ​​people and on 2011 the annual turnover amounted to 2,841,771 LVL.
