Building of the cross-country pipe-line till Preiļi
Agency LETA was informed by the Board of Preiļi region Development planning department chief specialist Aivars Pīzelis, that real building of the cross-country pipe-line at the Preiļi region will be started at the nearest time, so until October 10 gas supply could be provided at the Preiļi.

Building technique and pipes are in delivering process to the Preiļi region and land property are on the preparation stage - bushes are logged. Company Remus, that is chosen at the competition and another construction organization, will do construction operations.
Latvijas gāze stock company builds gas pipeline till Preiļi and it cooperates also with local self-governments, in which territory gas pipeline will be built.
As Mr. Pīzelis told, questions about land property with landowners at Vārkava region and Preiļi neighborhood are coordinated and landowners received compensation for land damages. After the finishing of pipeline building it will be possible to use this land for farming, because pipeline will be 2 meters deep, but it will not be possible to build anything on this land. A lot of the land, where pipeline will be located, is marshy and overgrown with bushes.
As it was reported, gasification of Preiļi is planned to finish this year. Until now Preiļi was not supplied with natural gas. Length of the cross-country pipeline will be 7 kilometers. Goal is to connect gas supply to the Preiļi central steamshop and also local company Preiļu siers stock company, so it could be possible to use alternative fuel.
Gasification of Preiļi and building of the cross-country pipeline will be done by Latvijas gāze resources.
There is intention to build cross-country pipeline from Preiļi to the Rēzekne. According to what was said by Mr. Pīzelis, this issue is conceptually supported and determination of the potential location of this pipeline is taking place.
