Building production quantity has grown for 5,3%
Building production quantity reached 172,5 millions lats at the first half-year, that is for 5,3% more than at the first half-year of 2000, agency LETA find out at the Central statistics board.

Building operations which total cost is 108,2 millions lats were done at the second quarter; this is for 6% more that at the same period last year.
Quantity of the building operations that were done abroad was 1 million lats. Most of the building operations were done in Estonia - 0,5 millions lats, at the European Union and UIC countries - 0,2 millions lats at the each group of countries.
At the same time builders from other countries have done building operations in Latvia, which quantity is 1,3 millions lats. Builders from Estonia and European Union were very active - respectively 0,5 and 0,3 millions lats each.
Structure of the building operations has changed, comparing with the beginning of the 90'. Specific weight of the remodeling and reconstruction operations in the total quantity has increased several times, and at the fist half-year it was 65,2%. Comparing with the first half-year of 2000, quantity of the new buildings has grown for 22,4% or 11 millions lats. At the same time quantity of the remodeling and reconstruction operations decreased for 2%.
Comparing with the first half-year of 2000 quantity of the new building of retail trade and wholesale trade houses has grown 2,4 timer, living houses - 1,7 times. At the same time building of the bridges and tunnels decreased for 28,%, building of ports and dams - for 21%.
Living houses, which total size is 40,800 square metes, including individual living houses - 40.700 square meters - are finished at the first quarter. Living houses, which total size is 47.700 square meters are finished at the second quarter of 2001.
Biggest part of the building operations is still concentrated at Riga, Ventspils and Riga region - 74%. At the same time building operations that are done at several specific regions, for example Latgale, is inconsiderable.
