City lacks funds to cover losses from Riga storm at over LVL 200,000

Last week^apostrofs;s storm could have caused losses of over LVL 200,000 to the Riga municipality, according to current estimates. The municipality has suffered losses of LVL 214,435.22 according to information provided by authorized structures at the meeting called by the executive director at the Riga City Council, Maris Tralmaks.

The amount of losses will be specified by the meeting of Finance Committee set for November 7. As the director at the finance department Raimonds Krumins said today, there is no such amount in the city reserves fund. The financial losses and justification for compensation should be carefully evaluated in Krumins' view.

The major losses were caused by snapped tress and damaged roofs. According to estimated figures, major losses were caused to Riga's Northern District - LVL 50,190, and Kurzeme District - LVL 35,000.
