Construction costs in Latvia up 0.5% in Q3
In the third quarter of this year, construction costs in Latvia climbed 0.5 percent on the average compared to the second quarter, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.

The largest increase was seen in costs for renovations in administrative buildings and offices and private houses - 1.3 percent as well as for renovation of educational and health care buildings - 1 percent. Whereas the major drop in costs was for installation of underground main pipelines - 0.7 percent.
The total increase in construction costs was affected by the hike in salaries for workers by 2.3 percent, as well as for maintenance of machinery and mechanisms - 0.8 percent, while prices of construction supply dropped - 0.4 percent.
In the third quarter of this year compared to the respective period last year, construction costs decreased 2.5 percent on the average. Costs for renovation of educational and health care buildings dropped 5.9 percent, construction of industrial, agricultural and retail buildings - 4 percent, transport objects - 3.8 percent, renovations in administrative buildings and offices - 0.3 percent. Simultaneously, construction costs for private houses climbed 0.8 percent, but prices for installing underground main pipelines have remained unchanged.
