Construction in Riga's historic center to be coordinated with Cultural Monument Protection Inspection
According to a decree issued by the Riga City Council^apostrofs;s City Development Department, any construction activity in Riga^apostrofs;s historic center and areas adjacent to other historic monuments will have to be coordinated with the State Cultural Monument Protection Inspection.
According to a decree issued by the Riga City Council's City Development Department, any construction activity in Riga's historic center and areas adjacent to other historic monuments will have to be coordinated with the State Cultural Monument Protection Inspection.
The new procedure is to put an end to many occasions when arguments arise over the necessity to coordinate construction work in Riga's historic center with the Cultural Monument Protection Inspection, Dana Hasana, public relations officer at the City Development Department, told LETA.
Andis Cinis, head of the Riga Cultural Monument Protection Inspection, believes that the new procedure will better preservation and protection of Riga's historic center and implementation of the law on protection of cultural monuments.
To accelerate coordination of a project, construction companies are requested to submit the Construction Board at least four copies of a project.
