Construction output in Latvia at LVL LVL 524.7 million
In 2003, value of construction output in Latvia reached LVL 524.7 million, or by 13.7% up from 2002, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.

In 2003, the value of construction work carried out outside Latvia totaled LVL 19.3 million or by LVL 17 million up from 2002. Major construction work was done in the CIS countries and Estonia, LVL 11.5 million and LVL 3.1 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, construction work done by non-resident construction organizations in Latvia last year totaled LVL 2.1 million.
Compared with 2002, the value of new construction in 2003 increased by 14.1% or LVL 26.9 million and the value of repair and reconstruction works rose by 13.4% or LVL 36.3 million.
Last year, increases in the output of new construction and repairs at ports were 2 times; 1.6 times for residential housing and 1.5 times for motorways, streets and roads.
While decreases by 39% were observed in the construction output of education buildings last year, 15% in the construction output of local pipelines and power lines and 12% in the output of main pipelines, communication and power lines.
Major construction work has been still concentrated in Riga - 53.2%, Riga District - 7.3%, Daugavpils - 5.5% and Ventspils - 4.6%.
