DGNB and BAU step up their cooperation
Messe München GmbH and The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) will in future be working more closely together. This new phase of cooperation starts with a milestone event: the DGNB´s Special Show at BAU 2013 in Munich, the World´s Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials, Systems.
The show, entitled "Sustainable construction: a transparent guide to the appropriate product", is being put on by DGNB together with partners from industry and research; it will feature a range of completed and outstanding projects illustrating how building products can be used successfully in the production, operation and certification of sustainable buildings. A key tool for architects and planners in this is the DGNB´s online "Navigator", a new expanded edition of which will be presented at BAU for the first time.The DGNB and its partners, all highly regarded in their fields, will be offering visitors to BAU 2013 first-hand information at the show in Hall C2 (booth no. 311). An attractive program of lectures is also offered, on topics such as the right way to use building products to create a more comfortable living and working environment, the role flexible build solutions can play in sustainable building and how product costs can impact positively on life-cycle costs. Visitors to the special show can also look forward to gaining interesting insights into the growth market in sustainable building and finding out about new opportunities.
For the future BAU and DGNB are aiming to further intensify their conceptual work. For example, it is planned to organize regular joint events to familiarize the exhibitors at BAU with the challenges and opportunities presented by sustainable building.
Also in the pipeline are considerations on how the DGNB Navigator can be made extensively available for the exhibitors at BAU, and on how to better link the offerings of BAU and the DGNB Navigator. That way both BAU and the DGNB would be providing attractive and easily accessible added-value content for the exhibitors and their products.
The German Sustainable Building Council
(DGNB – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen)
The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) was founded in 2007 in Stuttgart. A non-profit organization, it promotes sustainable building through the DGNB Certificate, a certification system it developed for buildings and developments constructed or optimized to be environmentally friendly, resource- and cost-efficient and more comfortable for their users.
The DGNB has around 1,200 members from all segments of the construction and property sector in Germany. A network of partner organizations in many countries promotes international adaptation of the certification system and its application.
About BAU 2013
BAU 2013, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials, Systems, takes place from January 14 to 19, 2013 at Messe München exhibition center. Once again the event is expected to attract around 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and approximately 240,000 visitors from all over the world. On show at BAU on 180,000 square meters of exhibition space will be architectural solutions, materials and systems for commercial and residential construction and for interior fit-out, for both new-build and renovation and modernization purposes. Every two years this event brings together market leaders from the sector to participate in a unique international display of competence spanning all the construction trades. BAU is also the world´s largest trade fair for architects and construction engineers, attracting around 50,000 design professionals. The exhibits at the fair are organized according to building material and also product and theme areas. Key topics for the future of the industry, such as sustainability and building for life, play an important role in all sections of the exhibition. The many attractive events in the supporting program, including high-caliber forums with experts from all over the world, round off this industry showcase.
