A commission that the Riga City Council has set up specifically for a decision on taking out a loan for completion of the new Town Hall will continue by reviewing bids from banks next week, LETA learned from the Riga City Council's Information and Public Relations Department.
The commission met today with representatives from "Nordea banka", "Unibanka" and "Parex bank" to learn more about their bids.
The banks' information will be reviewed at the commission's next meeting on Monday, June 2.
LVL 6.5 million are to be borrowed from a bank over a ten-year period to complete construction of Town Hall, according to information on the Internet homepage of the Acquisition Control Bureau.
Town Hall is to be finished by September 15, according to a schedule approved by the Riga City Council's supervisory council for its completion.
It was initially planned that Town Hall would open its doors at the end of 2002, but it is now estimated that the city council could move to the new offices in the fall.
Negotiations with Ministry of Foreign Affairs about exchanging Town Hall for the building at 3 Valdemara Street, registered in the name of the ministry, which is currently occupied by the city council, is still continuing. The ministry is to give a final answer next week.
The Town Hall is being constructed by the "Pilna sabiedriba Kalnozols RRB Moduls" partnership. The total amount is LVL 10.22 million with about 58.4% of the building completed, spending LVL 5.97 million.
