In order to welcome and celebrate the loveliest spring festival, Easter, the international exhibition company BT 1 is presenting EASTER IN ĶĪPSALA 2002 on 30-31 March.
In order to welcome and celebrate the loveliest spring festival, Easter, the international exhibition company BT 1 is presenting EASTER IN ĶĪPSALA 2002 on 30-31 March. The young and the old are invited to spend two days enjoying the holidayģs recreational activities, viewing the international dog and cat shows and the exhibits of various breeds of rabbits and hens, riding horses and ponies and purchasing at the Easter crafts fair items made by Latvian craftsmen.
During these two days while an Easter mood reigns in Ķīpsala, visitors will be able to participate in egg rolling and swinging, to listen to spring songs sung by various childrenģs and amateur groups and sing along, and to participate in various contests, amusements and other holiday activities.
Attendees of EASTER IN ĶĪPSALA 2002 will also have a chance to buy interesting holiday souvenirs and gifts at the Easter crafts fair. Approximately 30 skilled Latvian craftsmen will display various items of jewellery, ceramic and metal ware, handicrafts, weavings and other unusual hand-made articles. Leading animal food companies, as well as the manufacturers and distributors of accessories for animals, will participate in the shows.
Furry days in Ķīpsala
Everyone who has decided to celebrate Easter in Ķīpsala will have a chance to evaluate the participants of the international dog and cat shows. In co-operation with the Latvian kennel club, J. Favorīts, the exhibition
centre will hold an international dog show featuring approximately 700 dogs from Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Ukraine. Attendees will be able to enjoy a diverse programmeģa parade of dog breeds, a dog fashion show, a competition of Latvian kennel clubs and young dog trainers. There will also be amateur sports competitions for animals, including hurdle jumping and other training exercises. The Best of the Show dog and the champion of champions, selected from the champions of the past five years at international dog shows, will be nominated at the exhibition. An international jury whose chief judge will be from Sweden will judge the dogs; the other judges will be from Norway, Russia and Ukraine.
The security firm V.S.V. will present a demonstration programme in which one will be able to see a simulation of the apprehension of criminals, detection of drugs, as well as other dog training skills. Master Food is sponsoring this demonstration.
In co-operation with the Latvian cat lovers? club Mooncat, Ķīpsala will also be the site of an international cat show with approximately 150 cats from Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland and Russia. Visitors will be able to participate in a poll to choose the best cat in the show and view a spring fashion show for cats featuring not only the furry pets but also children from the childrenģs model agency Es un mana māte ( My Mother and I). An international jury composed of a chief judge from Russia and other judges from Belarus and Lithuania will select the best cat in the show.
At the show there will also be both well-known and less well-known breeds of rabbits and hens. In the exhibition centreģs outside yard, both young and old will be able to enjoy short rides on horses and ponies.
