"Elkor mode" losses over LVL 70,000 from weekend blaze

Ventilation, fire-security and alarm systems were damaged from the blaze but the premises flooded in putting it out.
"Elkor" Group owns the basement and the first floor in the building at 19 Brivibas Street.
As reported, firefighters succeeded in extinguish the fire in the multi-story building in downtown Riga Sunday, where "Elkor" and a post office branch are located.
Possible compensation for the building from the insurance company, the joint-stock "If Latvia" could reach EUR 1 million (about LVL 65,000). Construction carried out by the company "NCC konstrukcija" and several apartments were insured by the insurance company "If Latvia".
However, the compensation does not include losses for other tenants of the building and the store, which possibly could be insured with other companies.
The State Fire and Rescue Service are mentioning two possible causes for the fire - negligence or arson.
