As LETA was informed by project coordinator Valters Vilks, quite possibly signatures will be gathered in August, but that will depend on how active persons will be in this regard as a lull has been noted of late.
It is possible to vote against the plant also on the Internet at "c.lf.lv/balso.phtml".
The task force from the Latvia Academy of Sciences has already made its assessment of the proposed plant, stating that it would significantly influence the Daugava River's water quality and pollute the surrounding area.
The company carrying out the project, the joint-stock "Baltic Pulp", denies that there would be any adverse effect on the environment from plant operations.
