Fire fighters continue extinguishing blaze at cotton warehouse
Fire fighters are continuing to put out a blaze at a cotton warehouse on Rankas Street in Riga^apostrofs;s Northern (Ziemeļu) District, LETA learned at the State Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire fighters are continuing to put out a blaze at a cotton warehouse on Rankas Street in Riga's Northern (Ziemeļu) District, LETA learned at the State Fire and Rescue Service.
Currently there are only two fire engines left at the scene, initially 15 fire engines participated.
The blaze at the cotton warehouse at 6 Rankas Street began yesterday at 6:50 p.m. The fire was under control at 8:05 p.m., it has not been put out completely, however. The cotton was bailed up and covered an area of about 150 square meters, which is why putting out the fire demanded much effort.
A major blaze was also registered in Olaine, at varnish plant of "Biolat Ltd." The fire began at 4:42 a.m. this morning, it was localized at 5:56 a.m., the work still continues. Four fire engines are at the scene.
Fire fighters also had to put out a major blaze overnight in a hangar at 32 Granita Street in Stopini County, Riga District, that belongs to "Breks Ltd." and "Kornes Ltd." Three automobiles were destroyed in the fire, that covered about 900 square meters of the hangar's territory.
