As reported, the roof, attic and 5th floor in an area of 200 square meters were engulfed in flames. It took 10 hours to extinguish the fire.
A firefighter, Arnis (born in 1983), was injured while battling the blaze, which erupted early Sunday.
According to initial information, the fire was caused by negligence.
The building, located at the corner of Valnu and Meistaru streets, houses several shops, a photo studio, several firms and offices belonging to the Riga Stock Exchange and the Latvian Central Depository.
The building is owned by Australian-Latvian Valdis Berzins.
