Five companies have expressed their readiness to start reconstruction of the northern terminal at Riga International Airport, after an open tender was announced by the airport owners. LETA received this information from Andorijs Darzins, press secretary at the airport.
Until yesterday, a financial and technical bid was received from a partnership uniting "PBLC", "Moduls Riga" and "PB Fasades", partnership "Skonto buve", "Kalnozols celtnieciba" Ltd., JSC "UPB" and "Latvijas energoceltnieks"Ltd.
The economically-best offer was presented by the association of three companies. According to statutes, the commission is being given two weeks to assess the technical offer and make a decision. The technical offer will also be assessed by independent building experts, who will submit their report to the commission.
As reported, rapidly growing air passenger flow demands reconstruction and widening of the present terminal in order to increase capacity of the airport. Reconstruction is also needed to draw a dividing line between passengers coming from Schengen Agreement countries and passengers from other countries, when Latvia enters the agreement.
It is planned to construct a three-floor building anew, with a total area of approximately 10,000 square meters. The project was developed by the "Design Office "Arhis" Ltd. and led by Andris Kronbergs.
The completion of reconstruction is expected in 18 months from the day of agreement.
