The new plant will assemble and manufacture EURO-3, EURO-2 and EURO-1 trucks. More than EUR 12.5 million will be invested in construction of the plant. It is planned that the plant will initially employ 100 workers, its workforce will amount to 300 workers later in the future.
Russian Ambassador to Latvia Igor Stoudennikov said during the ceremony he was pleased that Russian-Latvian cooperation was expanding, which would also produce an economic effect.
The plant is to launch operations in 18 months.
Minister of Economy Juris Lujans (Latvia's First Party), Moscow company "ZIL" director general Konstantin Laptev, Jelgava Mayor Andris Ravins (Union of Greens and Farmers), Moscow government's representative in the Baltic states Alexander Mizgar and Moscow government members participated in the ceremony.
