"Hansabanka" hopes that a solution would be found in the near future, which is necessary for construction of the "Saules akmens" (Sun Stone) business complex.
The bank's press secretary, Arturs Eglitis, told LETA that general contractor "Merks" is responsible for construction of the project, which is pushing the project through all responsible institutions.
"We have been informed that at this time "Merks", along with leading architects, municipal representatives, academic staff, inviting also representatives from the State Cultural Monument Protection Inspection and Environmental Protection Club, are drawing up proposals in order to avert shortcomings in the detail design project," Eglitis informed.
He neither approved nor denied the intention of the bank to turn to the courts, in case a state institution's operations impose any threats on "Hansabanka's" investments in the construction of "Saules akmens". Currently, already LVL 4.049 million have been invested in the project.
The complex is being constructed on the left-bank of the Daugava in Riga's Kipsala. Kipsala's territorial planning allows for buildings no higher than 15 floors, but "Saules akmens" is to be 26 floors. Besides, a part of it is on a conservation zone. The construction of the complex has not been coordinated with the State Cultural Monument Protection Inspection.
