Through the joint efforts of "Multihalle Ltd." and "Metala buvju sistemas Ltd.", the construction of the new ice hockey arena in Riga could be implemented more easier and for less money, LETA was told by "Metala buvju sistemas" Director Janis Brinkmanis.
As reported, both companies are drawing up a joint project for the arena.
According to Brinkmanis, the project will have no essential alterations. The joint project includes an arena, hotels, restaurants, swimming pool.
Brinkmanis pointed out that the placement of buildings could be changed in the joint project but a final decision on it would be made by the Riga City Construction Board.
"Metala buvju sistemas" director pointed out that currently that it would be too soon to talk about costs of the project. Whereas the business paper "Dienas Bizness" yesterday informed that the costs of the project could amount over USD 300 million.
Brinkmanis informed LETA that Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) President Kirovs Lipmans was the initiator of the joint project.
As Lipmans informed LETA earlier, the LHF board would decide on the best bid for a new hockey arena for the planned 2006 world championship in Riga on August 30.
Previously, the LHF meeting was to convene on August 26. However, "Metala buvju sistemas Ltd." turned to LHF requesting to postpone selection until August 30. "Metala buvju sistemas", which is a Swiss and British companies' group, has launched negotiations with another bidder - "Multihalle Ltd." on a joint project.
As reported, on July 15, LHF board was to select one of the potential constructors of the ice arena - "SCI Stadium Consultants International", "IMS Studio 6", "Metala buvju sistemas Ltd." or "Multihalle Ltd.".
