Hockey arena project is obvious fraud - Repse
New Era (Jaunais laiks) party leader Einars Repse, who has been following press coverage of the controversy over the planned USD 400 million ice hockey arena in Riga, says that it can be surmised that the project offered is not a business offer but "plain and simple, obvious and undeniable fraud, with the Latvian nation as victim".
In a statement on the matter, Repse says that "either the logical minds of the ruling parties are totally fogged up by the 400 million or total ignoramuses are heading the government, who can't or don't want to notice an obvious fraud attempt".
Repse is demanding the further tender on the arena to be made public in order to "end the manipulation with state property, money and future obligations".
Repse also believes that the planned 2006 World Ice Hockey Championship in Riga is now also under serious threat.
