As Frode Gronvalds, director of Linstow Varner Ltd. shopping centers said at the opening of the first part or reconstructed station, for now in the reconstruction are invested 7 millions US dollars.
Gronvalds promised that first part or reconstructed station would be finished at August 9. During the reconstruction there will be accomplished reinforcement of main constructions, montage of two modern elevators and escalator, montage of three handicapped personģs chair lifting mechanisms, remodeling of the roof and change of windows, window-cases and doors.
At the second hall of the station, present visual division will be kept, but main glass front and stone front will be changed.
According to the contract the flooring will be changed too. There will be decked resistant stone tiles at the place of old, monolith "terracco". Building company RBS Skals will build new engineering communications in this hall, and water supply, drainage, heating and modern airing and conditioning will be improved as a result; security alarm, telecommunications and information transmission systems will be provided too.
Gronvalds informed that at Washington would be held conference of the World Bankģs experts, where decision about its participation in the reconstruction of the Riga train station will be made.
Rems Razums, director of the PR and projects in Linstow Varner Ltd. Informed at the opening, that total reconstruction of the station, including rebuilding of the Stationģs square will be finished at 2003.
Razums indicated, that for now sketch design of the reconstruction of the Stationģs square is confirmed at the State inspection for the protection of cultural and historic monuments and at the next week it could be confirmed at the Riga architecture administration.
