LVL 8 million to be needed for new passenger terminal in Riga Free Port
Construction of the first stage of a new passenger terminal within the territory of the Riga Passenger Port will cost about LVL 8 million, Riga City Council Municipal Development Committee Chairman Andris Ameriks told reporters today.

The new building could be built in about two years, according to Ameriks.
Construction of the new terminal would be possible only after approval of the design plan from the Riga City Council.
Ameriks informed reporters today that changes in the design plan are to be approved in the fall.
An alternative dock could be set up also in Andrejsala in the future.
As businessman Viesturs Koziols told reporters today that he had spoken with representatives from the shipping companies "Silja Line" and "Viking Line", and they commented that no trips are being made to Riga because passengers want to receive the same service ashore as aboard the ship.
Initially "Rigas pasazieru terminalis Ltd." planned on construction of a temporary building for the terminal but after carrying out estimates it had turned out that to construct a new building would be more useful.
