Land rental agreement signed between Riga City Council and "Multihalle"
Riga City Council and "Multihalle Ltd." signed a land rental agreement for construction of the new multi-functional arena this morning, Vilnis Baltins, the executive director at "Multihalle Ltd." informed LETA.

On January 28 this year, Riga City Council decided to rent out to "Multihalle Ltd." a 17-hectare plot of land on Riga's Skanstes Street
A 15-hectare area will be reserved for two years for another adjacent edifice, that will house offices, etc., that will serve as a financial support base for maintenance of the new arena.
Rental fee for the land plot until 2005 is set at 7 santimes per square meter, later it will be LVL 0.06, LVL 0.3 and LVL 0.1 per square meter for the business space, multi-story space and Hall of Fame park, respectively.
Initially, the 17-hectare plot will be rented out for 49 years, and if the conditions of the agreement are observed, it will be extended for 49 more years.
The Riga municipality is planning to allot LVL 2 million for municipal infrastructure.
The new ice arena's foundation stone is to be laid at 11 a.m. today.
The official ceremony is organized by "Multihalle Ltd.", that won the right to build the arena in Riga, and investors represented by "Metala buvju sistemas Ltd.".
Latvjan Hockey Federation (LHF) President Kirovs Lipmans and board member of executive administration Guntis Ulmanis have invited the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Rene Fasel and IIHF Vice President Jan-Ake Edvinsson to the official ceremony. Riga Mayor Gundars Bojars also will take part in the ceremony.
Laying of the foundation stone is a symbolic first step as construction work will be begin much later.
