MELFLUX 1641 F - Application Technology Leaflet
Application Technology Leaflet
High Performance Superplasticizer in Powder Form - Shrinkage reducing - higher final strength development -
General
Melflux® 1641 F is a free flowing spray-dried powder based on a modified polyethercarboxylate. Besides the well-known electrostatic dispersing effect, Melflux® 1641 F provides a by far more effective steric stabilizing of the binder particles.
Recommended Fields of Application
* Machinery Grouts based on portland cement
* Self-leveling flooring and skim coat compounds
based on portland cement/calcium aluminate cement/calcium sulphate
* Self-leveling floor screeds based on portland cement
Dosage
Depending on the application a dosage rate of
0.05 - 0.5 % w/w
(by weight of binder, OPC-systems)
0.05 - 1.5 % w/w
(by weight of binder, HAC/OPC-systems)
is recommended.
Binders
suitable for
* Portland cement (CEM I)
* Composite cements (CEM II)
* Blast furnace slag cements (CEM III)
* Calcium aluminate cement (TSZ)
Achieving effects/features and advantages
Effects/Features Advantages
*Highly effective dispersing agent
*Shrinkage reducing
* Constant effectiveness over a broad temperature
range
*ISO 9001:2000 Quality management
*Effective at very low w/c-ratios
*Long pot life, easy installation
*Low dosage of plasticizer
*Good strength development, higher final
strengths
*Compatible with cellulose ethers, redispersible
powders, etc.
*Shrinkage reduced construction materials
*Workability also under extreme temperatures
(+5 °C to +35 °C)
*Suitable for EC1 complying construction
materials formulations
Packaging and Storage
Melflux® 1641 F is supplied in 15 kg multilayer paper bags (PE-coated). Other packaging is available on request.
Melflux® 1641 F should be stored at temperatures below 40° C in dry conditions in its unopened original packaging. The pallets must not be double stacked.
The shelf life of Melflux® 1641 F is at least 1 year when stored in the conditions stated above.
During the storage of the paper bags on pallets it is possible that the powder solidifies under its dead weight over time - especially at elevated temperatures (dry lump formation). These lumps easily crumble by mechanical treatment into a fine, still dry powder. The chemical composition and the efficiency of the product are not adversely affected by the solidification over time. After the product has been mixed homogeneously into a dry mortar composition, it is sufficiently distributed within mineral powder products (i.e. sand, cement, etc.). We recommend the performance of mixing trials with actual raw materials and mixing equipment and eventually the production of a homogenous pre-mix blend (Melflux® 1641 F with some parts of sand / cement), which can then easily be added into the dry mortar mixture.
On demand following test reports are available:
* "Using of Melflux® 1641 F in a Machinery Grout based on portland cement" (Date: 2000-03-28)
* "Using of Melflux® 1641 F in a Self-leveling flooring compound based on portland cement / calcium aluminate cement / calcium sulphate" (in preparation).
