Moscow wishes to supply Riga with building materials
The chairman of Riga council Gundars Bojārs, after returning from a visit to Moscow announced in a press conference that while expanding the economical co-operation with Riga, Moscow is interested in supplying Riga and Latvia with building materials.

Mr. Bojārs informed that 80 % of all stone-quarries in Russia that supply a wide range of building materials are registered in Moscow. Moscow is also interested in the Riga Port, which could become one of transit routes for goods coming from Moscow.
The mayor of Riga pointed out that it is planned for both cities to co-operate in several areas i.e. economy, culture and education. Representatives of Moscowģs legal authorities are interested in co-operating both in transit business via Riga Port and in tourism, building and public catering.
It has been informed that the Mayor of Riga together with other council officials visited the capital of Russia during the last weekend due to celebrations in Moscow. During the visit the delegation of Riga met the mayor of Moscow Yury Luzkov and other leading authorities.
During the meeting both parties signed a memorandum to reach an agreement about co-operation by the end of the year.
During the press conference, Mr. Bojars expressed his hope that the agreement will not be purely declarative and it will have practical results.
