New bridge in Riga could be built into 2 years
New place of crossing the Daugava -South Bridge - could be finished till the end of 2003, believes Aivars Kreituss, chairman of Riga municipalityģs (RM) Cityģs development committee.

Kreituss, who during the visit in Rostok saw the implementation of the similar project like North tunnel, said that building of tunnel is lasting process and Riga needs new place where to cross Daugava as soon as possible.
Kreituss believes, that project of North tunnel could cost more than 150 millions Euro and could be compared with Rigaģs one year budget, so it could be quiet difficult to find sufficient financial sources.
Building of the South bridge could cost about 20 millions lats and it could be financed by the way of aftepayments or by using the possibility of the Concession law - to start a concessionaire organization.
Raimonds Krūmiņš, director of the RM Financial department, believes that competition about the development of South bridgeģs technical project could be announced this summer and competition about the bridgeģs building could be announced at the middle of the next year.
Kreituss informed, that according specialists? opinion, bridge could be built into 1,5 years.
Kreituss indicated that deputies at the previous RM didnģt deny the need of the South bridge and beginning project was developed at 1997.
