No construction work has been conducted in the new Riga Town Hall in over four months, as council deputies clarified at a session of Riga City Council City Development Committee today.
The deputies went to Town Hall in order to find out the actual situation and speak to constructors. As "Rigas nami Ltd." Director Andris Lacis said, workers have actually done nothing for months because they are waiting for wages.
Lacis informed that the builders have already done more than they have been paid for. Total costs of construction of Town Hall would be about LVL 11 million. Yesterday, the Riga City Council decided to allot the additional financing for completion of construction of Town Hall.
The "Rigas nami Ltd." director informed that an oral agreement has been reached with the firm "Kalnozols" that construction will be completed in the first half of 2003.
As LETA was told by Riga City Council City Development Committee Chairman Andris Ameriks, Riga City Council Executive Director Maris Tralmaks has assumed responsibility for the delay in construction.
