The German company "Obermayer Planen & Beraten" ("Obermayer") is determined to use all possible means to protect its right to carry out the design and supervision of the construction of the Daugava River's planned northern crossing, LETA was informed by the authorized representative from the company, Ieva Zandere.
Zandere added that the company has received information about the ban on signing a contract with the German company "Obermayer" only by telephone without any official information.
After receiving official information, "Obermayer" will decide on its move.
As reported, the head of the Acquisition Control Bureau, Andrejs Tiknuss, told LETA that in reviewing a complaint from "Konsorts"/TEC v.o.f. Ltd." about the procedure of a tender and after evaluating additional materials in the matter, the bureau ascertained several offenses.
Minister of Regional Development and Local Government Affairs Ivars Gaters told LETA that he has not yet become acquainted with the Acquisition Control Bureau's decision.
Whereas Dans Bertulis, member of the board at the Riga Regional Development Agency and the tender commission told LETA that in banning the agency from signing a contract with "Obermayer", the inflow of European Union money in Latvia would be threatened. Bertulis believes that in making such a decision, the Acquisition Control Bureau has assumed great responsibility since attraction of EU capital and implementation of such large-scale projects in Latvia could be problematic in the future.
Bertulis added that the fate of the Northern Tunnel is now in the hands of "Obermayer", and the company could decide on taking legal action against the Acquisition Control Bureau.
