Total space of the new parking place will be 6.842 square meters and it will have place for more than 300 cars. Comfortable driving in and out will be provided. Cost for parking the car at working days will be 0,60 Ls for an hour, but holiday and at nights it will be less - 0,30 Ls. First 6 days - from July 13 till July 18 parking place will be for free. There is room for shops and cafes planned in Jēkaba arkāde.
Customer, who ordered the parking place, is Sols Bukingolts, president of InterSource International Inc, but leading architect was Juris Paeglis.
During the opening several popular people, who were involved in this project, spoke. Ēriks Ruža, chief of the board in the Kalnozols un partneri said: "Iģve parked my car in a lot of cities, but it seams, that one of the most interesting parking places is in Riga now. To park car in Zalcburg, you have to drive into hill, in Tokyo you gave to fold your mirrors before driving in and to take deep breath. Here we have width and comfort.
For lime-trees were planted during the ceremony next to the parking place and memorial and symbol of luck - glass box with horseshoe inside - was set up at the parking place too.
First car drove into parking place after the cutting of the ribbon - Mercedes Benz, thatģs produced at 1938. Sols Bukingolts and Sergejs Dolgopolovs were at the car.
Main supporters of the building project were Riga Municipality, Building Administration, company Kalnozols un partneri, Unibanka, mass media and others.
Investor of this project - Sols Bukingolts - and others said, that they hope it is not going to be the last of such investments in Old Riga. They made conclusion, that parking place of that kind could be one of the solutions how to fight with parking problems next to the Old Riga.
