Preatoni offers apartments on Vecpilsetas Street in Old Town
RIGA, June 15 (LETA) - Apartments in the newly-opened building at 8a Vecpilsetas Street are available for those "who want to live in the very heart of Old Town Riga", LETA was informed by "Ernesto Preatoni grupa's" enterprise "Vecpilsetas nekustamie īpasumi" board member Alessandro Gelli.
Gelli pointed out that the building is a unique edifice with its ancient and diversified wood construction and elements in internal design and decoration.
Total area of the building is 1,400 square meters, including 7 apartments from 60 to 230 square meters. A joint security guard and fire rescue system is installed in the building.
A restaurant will be opened on the basement and first floor, and talks with several firms on the restaurant are under way at this time.
The manager of the building "Pro Kapitla Latvija" invested about USD 1.2 million in remodeling the building, which was carried out by the firm "NCC Konstrukcija". Designing of the building was conducted by the Italian company "Studio Tamini" and Latvian company "Vizualas modelesanas studija".
This is already the third historical building renovated in Riga by "Ernesto Preatoni grupa". Last year, the edifice at 19 Stabu Street and the Peter l Palace at 9 Palasta Street were opened in Riga.
Historical information about the building at 8a Vecpilsetas Street dates back to 1766 and it was evaluated as worth 1,672 Albert thalers then.
In 1804, the value of the building had increase threefold - 5,872 thalers. A warehouse building was completed in the second half of the XVIII century, based on the wall of the previous building and pediment.
Cast iron cannons were placed in the corners of the facade by the late XX century. In the 1970s, warehouses of the printing house "Cina" were housed there.
