"Velve" won the tender, which was held by the Ministry of Finance and the State Revenue Service.
"Velve" is a New Era (JL) sponsor.
The premier's aide Dans Titavs informed LETA that the premier had requested Minister of Finance Valdis Dombrovskis to evaluate how the procedure of the tender meets national interests. In case of necessity, a new tender must be held.
According to information at disposal of LETA, the State Revenue Service has signed a contract with "Velve" on last work day of 2002 - December 27, and on the same day an advance payment LVL 166,480 was transferred into account of the company.
According to Titavs, the premier is skeptical about the "unusual courtesy shown "Velve" on the part of officials".
According to information released on the homepage of the Acquisition Control Bureau, the cost of the bid offered by the construction firm "Velve" was LVL 979,296.
"Velve" was selected as the best among nine bidders, and it had the second cheapest offer.
"Velve" President Andris Kreislers, was one of the supporters of New Era before formation of the party, but he was not among the founders of the party. Kreislers donated LVL 8,000 to Repse but "Velve" donated LVL 1,500 to the party.
