A new RIMI supermarket opens doors in Daugavpils today, "RIMI Latvija Ltd." public relations manager Inta Krasovska reported to LETA.
It is the first RIMI in Latgale, and the 31st in Latvia. The supermarket's total area is 1,300 square meters. About 15,000 various products will be available in the store. It has six cash registers and also a parking lot for 60 automobiles.
The store employs 55 people. 20-30 more job openings will be created as smaller stores next to RIMI will open - notions, CD, toy, mobile phone, watches and jewelry stores. About USD 2 million have been invested in the store.
"RIMI Latvija" believes that opening of the store will not only create new job openings and bring in more revenues for the Daugavpils City, it will also prompt new investments in Latgale.
On Wednesday and Thursday, RIMI in Daugavpils will offer customers "happy hours" - people will receive presents from RIMI suppliers on an hourly basis. Friday, the "Radio SWH" boom-box and the band "Forte" will entertain the public at the store, a fireworks display will be held on Saturday.
Daugavpils Mayor Rihards Eigims has also been invited to take part in the opening of the RIMI.
