Residents can participate in fund-raising campaign for restoration of Cesvaine Castle
The Association of Latvian Castles is calling on residents to help raise funds for the restoration of the fire-ravaged Cesvaine Castle. The Association of Latvian Castles is calling on the school's graduates, non-governmental organizations, public institutions and businessmen to help in restoration of the castle, the association's executive director Laima Lupike told LETA. Several businessmen and individuals have already offered their assistance.
All information on the options to participate in the fund-raising campaign can be obtained at the Association of Latvian Castles at 3 Zakusalas krastmala Street in Riga, LV-1509, and by e-mail: pilis@openlatvia.lv or Laima@pilis.lv.
The Association of Latvian Castles will report about the community's support and further actions on Monday, December 9.
Cesvaine City Council also requests help in restoration of the castle, money can be transferred to its account in "Baltijas Tranzitu banka", Cesvaine account group, code BATRLV 2X89, account 001142015, marked as donations for Cesvaine Castle.
A fund-raising hotline is to be connected already today, and several charity concerts are to be held later, Lupike said in an interview on Latvian State Television last night.
The funds are needed to first put an interim roof on the building.
The "Latvia Post" company has decided in conjunction with the Cesvaine City Council to place a box in Cesvaine post office for donations for restoration of the castle, the company's director general Aivars Droiskis told LETA.
"The post office is a very active place, it is visited by many residents of Cesvaine every day, therefore the fund-raising box will attract attention," Droiskis believes. Information on the possibility of participating in the fund-raising campaign at the Cesvaine post office will also be reported to all residents of Madona District via mailmen.
