The Riga City Council and the new owner of the entertainment center "Vernisaza" in Riga have reached an agreement on further management of adjoining Vermanes Park, Janis Zviedris, acting director of the Riga City Council^apostrofs;s Property Department, told the city council^apostrofs;s Environmental Committee today.
The Riga City Council and the new owner of the entertainment center "Vernisaza" in Riga have reached an agreement on further management of adjoining Vermanes Park, Janis Zviedris, acting director of the Riga City Council's Property Department, told the city council's Environmental Committee today.
The committee's deputies were concerned about further maintenance of the park, Zviedris told them however that it would continue. An agreement on further work in the park is to be renewed with the new owner of "Vernisaza".
LETA already reported that "Vernisaza", located at 2 Terbatas Street in Riga, has been turned over in possession of the joint-stock "Parex Bank". A purchase contract has been registered with the Riga City's Land Register on November 28, 2001, according to which "Parex" has purchased land in 4,689 square meters at 2 Terbatas Street from "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." for LVL 3,804,000. Cadastral value of the plot is assessed at LVL 963,196, but its buildings - LVL 768,265.
Sandra Stokenberga, the head of "Parex Bank's" Legal Department, told LETA previously that the bank had leased the land plot to another company, its name cannot be disclosed however because the law on credit institutions bans the bank from disclosing the firm's name.
Therefore, the further maintenance of Vermanes Park became an urgent issue. The Riga City Council had rented out the park to the "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." for 25 years. According to the rental contract, the Riga City Council is entitled to unilaterally break the contract if "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." is no longer the owner of the real estate at 2 Terbatas Street.
Riga City Council Deputy Chairman Sergejs Dolgopolovs told LETA that the land rental contract on the park is binding for the council and it stipulates that the contract becomes invalid if the operations of "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." are suspended.
Zviedris told LETA then that there was no enterprise with the name "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." registered with the Latvian Registry of Enterprises at that time.
According to information at the disposal of LETA, "Raimonda Paula muzikalais centrs "Vernisaza" Ltd." changed its name on December 12, 2001 and it is now "Izklaides centrs" (Entertainment Center). According to the Registry of Enterprise, Valerijs Hutorjanskis is "Izklaides centrs" president and the only holder of capital shares worth of LVL 1,513,000. With the change of the company's name, charter of company was changed as well.
"Vernisazas centrs" is not registered with the Registry of Enterprises but on December 3, 2001, "Vernisazas pakalpojumu centrs Ltd." was registered with the registry. 76.47 percent stake is owned by Julijs Krumins' "Man-Tess Ltd.", but 23.53 percent - by Krumins himself.
