The Riga City Council has received six proposals from banks concerning loans for completing construction of the new Town Hall in Riga's Old Town, Girts Fisers, the head of the Riga City Council's Account Settlement Division, told LETA.
Overall, the Riga City Council had turned to more banks, but others declined to provide loans.
A commission, set up specifically to evaluate banks' proposals, will meet tomorrow to analyze the proposals. Raimonds Krumins, director at the Riga City Council's Financial Department, was appointed the chairman of the commission, however, since Krumins has been recently suspended, it is likely that the commission will be headed by the department's acting director, Karlis Kavacs.
Krumins told LETA earlier that the Riga City Council's liabilities for completing the construction of the Town Hall might be around LVL 8.1 million.
It has been decided that "Rigas nami Ltd.", which is now responsible for the Town Hall, will take out a loan of LVL 6.5 million to conclude the construction by this fall.
A LVL 1 million tender on furnishings for Town Hall has also concluded.
