Riga councilmen and UNESCO representatives to speak about preserving Riga's historic center
On Monday, June 2, Riga Vice Mayor Aivars Guntis Kreituss and representatives of the Riga City Council^apostrofs;s City Development Department will meet with Mechtild Rossler, the chief of the UNESCO World Heritage Center in the European Region, to discuss cooperation with international financial institutions, and inviting UNESCO experts to participate in developing a strategy for preserving and developing Riga^apostrofs;s historic center.
On Monday, June 2, Riga Vice Mayor Aivars Guntis Kreituss and representatives of the Riga City Council's City Development Department will meet with Mechtild Rossler, the chief of the UNESCO World Heritage Center in the European Region, to discuss cooperation with international financial institutions, and inviting UNESCO experts to participate in developing a strategy for preserving and developing Riga's historic center.
The meeting will be held at the initiative of a task force for preparation of a strategy for preserving and developing Riga's historic center, Dana Hasana, the head of the public relations office at the Riga City Council's City Development Department, told LETA. Representatives of the UNESCO Latvian national committee and leaders of State Cultural Monument Protection Inspection have also been invited to participate in the debate.
The construction of the "Sun Stone" (Saules akmens) business complex and matters concerning construction in Riga's historic center will also be discussed at the meeting.
