In the financial year between October 1, 2003 and September 30, 2004, the joint-stock heat supply company "Rigas siltums" earned LVL 1.035 million, Andris Sprogis, the head of the company's information department, told LETA.
The company's turnover in the previous financial year totaled LVL 57.629 million, according to the annual report, approved by the company's shareholders' meeting.
Sprogis informed that compared to the previous financial year, the company's turnover has decreased slightly - it was LVL 61.685 million one year ago, while profit has slightly increased, a year ago it stood at LVL 1.026 million.
According to the company's representative, a decrease in the turnover at "Rigas siltums" could be explained with unfavorable meteorological conditions - the last winter was warmer than the one a year before and demand for heating power was less therefore.
The increase in profit was due to a program for central heating supply which resulted in a decrease in loss of heating power.
According to the decision of the shareholders' meeting, 27 percent of profit or LVL 279,468 are planned to pay in dividends, but the rest would be allotted for a reconstruction project for the central heating hub "Imanta".
The Riga City Council is shareholder in "Rigas siltums", which holds 49 percent stake, the Latvian Privatization Agency - LVL 48.995 percent, "Dalkia City Heat Ltd." - 2 percent and the joint stock "Latvenergo" - 0.005 percent.
