Effective Thursday, August 14th, 2003, "Skanska Konstrukcija" will be known as "Constructus".
AB Panevezio Keliai of Lithuania acquired all shares of SIA "Skanska Konstrukcija" from Skanska Oy, the Finnish subsidiary of the worldwide Skanska Group.
There will be no major changes at Constructus.
Constructus will continue as an independent business unit. All contractual obligations and guarantees will be met. Employee headcount will be maintained, and in fact, continue to increase to meet customer and business demands.
Constructus recognizes the benefits that have been inherited, which include values, policies, methods (OWOW - Our Way of Working), the ISO 14001 environmental and ISO 9001 quality management system certification, the corporate culture and the trained personnel that will allow it to continue to be a leader in providing professional construction services.
Constructus will continue to provide the full range of construction services - from the pre-design, design and pre-construction phases to actual construction work and the service warranty period, as well as M & E (Mechanical & Electrical) design and consulting services for which it has become well known in the market. It will continue to be distinguished by its Western approach to the construction business and the services rendered to its customers.
AB Panevezio Keliai also recently acquired Skanska Statyba in Lithuania. Both companies will remain independent but co-operate in the Baltic market to meet the needs of demanding international and local Clients.
Gvidas Drobužas, the Chairman of AB Panevezio Keliai, recognized that both companies are modern, Western-style companies known for their professional specialists. "They have developed under the influence of a different Western attitude toward construction and related services. They have been taught to work according to a system that is relatively new in the Baltic region but successfully operates in many other countries. Significant investments have been made in personnel training, promoting both their knowledge and their advancement. The company has gained experience in implementing large-scale projects, employing young and active people with a contemporary way of thinking, who have successfully worked and will continue to work in our company".
The acquisition of the former Skanska "sisters" strengthens the Panevezio Keliai groupģs professional approach. Already one of the leaders in the Lithuanian market, the recent additions make the organization a formidable construction services power in the Baltics.
Constructus will remain oriented to Clients who need more than traditional construction services. The focus is to ensure added value for the Client. This may be achieved only with knowledge, experience and the ability to provide more than the traditional services of a general contractor.
Constructus currently employs 35 people, most as project and construction managers, engineers and other construction and design specialists.
Recent customers and/or projects include Aizkraukles Banka, Hansabanka, Kesko, Volvo Truck Latvia, the Tervetes Brewery, Newdale Developments (the Baltic Business Park), Loze & Loze, the Jelgava Bakery, Saulkrasti Water Treatment Facility, Oriola-Rīga, ABB, DANZAS, CHD Computer Hardware Design, Tetra Pak Latvija, Daugavpils Water Treatment Facility, Latvijas Banka, Latvijas Unibanka, Nordea, Valdemāra Centre, the Riga School of Economics, Astrīdes House, Pumpura House and Hanzas Nams.
2002 sales increased by 35% over those in 2001, and are expected to reach 4,967 million Ls (8.3 million Euro) this year.
