Firefighters were called to remove a broken tree at 14 Stendes Street in Kuldiga this morning, yesterday they also had to remove trees from the Kuldiga-Skrunda highway, and at 3 Brivibas Street in Rezekne.
Strong winds did a considerable damage in Liepaja yesterday, where trees were toppled on Ugales Street, Tisse Street, Skedes Street and on the intersection of Flotes Street and Krumu Street.
Power lines were torn in Daugavpils District's Viski.
Wind velocity was up to 17 meters per second at coastal areas yesterday. According to weather forecasts for today, wind velocity will be 6-10 meters per second, and gusts up to 14 meters per second.
