Tatarstan and Riga have common problems with old town construction
Both Riga and Kazan cities have common problems concerning construction work in their historic old towns sections, as it was concluded during today^apostrofs;s meeting of the delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan with representatives from the construction department at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.

As LETA was told by the director of retail center "Tatarstan-Baltija" Zufar Zainullin, the historical center of Riga and a part of Kazan city are included on the UNESCO cultural heritage list.
Zainullin informed that wide public debate is underway in Kazan on whether historical buildings are to be renovated and how they are compatible with modern architecture.
The Tatarstan delegation is scheduled to the visit the newly-built branch of the Bank of Latvia at 12 Bezdeligu Street in Pardaugava. They will also be shown how reconstruction is progressing at the Riga Airport, and also meet with Jurmala City Council leaders.
On Wednesday, the Tatarstan delegation will become acquainted with the development and architecture of Ventspils city and Ventspils Mayor Aivars Lembergs will host a reception for the delegation.
The delegation is visiting Latvia from today through May 9.
