Ten "Maxi Rimi" planned in Latvia until end of 2004
Until the end of 2004, about ten "Maxi Rimi" hyper-markets are to be opened in Latvia, the director of "Rimi Latvija" hyper-market network, Aigars Abolins, told reporters today.

The second "Maxi Rimi" hyper-market is planned within the newly-expanded retail center "Mols" in the fall this year with total area of 4,500 to 5,000 square meters.
A third "Maxi Rimi" hyper-market will be part of the multifunctional retail complex in Riga's Kipsala. The investor of the project is the Dutch-Swedish joint venture "ICA/Ahold" with total area 10,300 square meters.
According to Abolins, about 40 cash registers will be installed in the center which will deal in 50,000 different retail items and employ about 320 people.
Similar hyper-markets will be opened throughout Latvia.
The director general of "RIMI Latvija", Knut Kvisvik, informed that the company plans to open several stores in Latvia by the end of 2004, totaling 75. Currently, there are 28 "Rimi Latvija" retail centers in Latvia.
According to Kvisvik, stores are planned in Bauska, Tukums, Talsi and Kuldiga.
The goal of the company is to become the leader in all three Baltic countries. "Rimi Latvija" has invested USD 100 million in Latvia so far.
