The Future of Building on 180,000 m² of Exhibition Space

Over 2,000 exhibitors will be presenting architectural solutions, materials and systems at BAU 2013. The 17 halls are organized according to building materials, product types and themes. Here´s a run-down of what's covered in the 180,000 square meters of hall space:

The section on stones/soils covers 22,000 square meters of space in Halls A1 and A2. It comprises stoneware, sand-lime bricks, concrete, pumice and fiber-cement building materials, plasters/renders, screeds and insulation materials.
Roofing constructions, incl. roof windows will take up all of Hall A3. The brick and tile industry will be showcasing its entire repertoire – from wall blocks and roof tiles to complete building sections, including energy-generating systems.
The section on stone, cast stone and outdoor design solutions is taking up half of Hall A4, on around 5,000 square meters of space.
Chemical building products and building tools are concentrated in Hall A5 and in a part of Hall A4, on around 16,000 square meters of space. Leading manufacturers will be showing how their extensive ranges – from insulation materials to plasters, renders, paints, varnishes and adhesives – can be used on facades and in interiors. Also covered are solutions for fire protection and acoustic insulation.
The section on tiles and ceramics and on materials and products for interiors is traditionally to be found in Hall A6. Leading manufacturers from all around the world will be presenting their latest creations for interior and exterior use: tiles, ceramics, facade systems, floor coverings, sanitary technology.
Halls B1 and C1 are dedicated to facades and solar-shading systems, and profiles made of aluminum. Covering a total of 20,000 square meters of space, this section also includes machinery and equipment for working with aluminum and steel.
Building, facade, solar-shading and energy-generating systems in steel are to be found in Hall B2, alongside systems and products in stainless steel, zinc and copper.
Close by, also in Hall B2 is the section on energy, building systems and solar technology. Manufacturers will be demonstrating how to integrate technical systems aesthetically into building architecture.
The full range of gate and door systems, including parking systems, will be situated in Hall B3 and parts of Hall C3, on a total of around 15,000 square meters of space.
Hall B5 contains an extensive display of products from the wood and plastics industry. Here the focus is on structural timber, interior fittings and wood derivatives.
The entire spectrum of floor coverings – from elastic (linoleum, PVC, rubber, cork) and textile to laminates and parquet – will be on show in Hall B6 and in a part of Hall A6.
In Hall C2 the major international companies in the glass industry will be showcasing their latest developments and products in glass and glass architecture. Other themes here are building automation and building management systems.
Doors and windows made of wood, plastics, glass and aluminum, plus locks and fittings – these products will be on display in a continuous area covering a total of 21,000 square meters of space in Halls C4 and B4. Here, the trade visitors will find manufacturers and suppliers in close proximity to each other. One key theme is building security. On show will be a range of different concepts and systems.
Another section having a dedicated area is BAU IT, on around 6,000 square meters of space in Hall C3. This is biggest display of IT for construction in Europe. It has a direct connection to the North Entrance.
"Investing in the Future" is the motto in Hall B0. Here visitors will be able to find, for example, contacts from institutes and associations in the building industry. In the Forum in Hall B0, research and development will be in the spotlight. There will be a separate series of talks on the subject of renovation and modernization. The building trades will also have their own gathering place, in the shape of the "Skilled Trades Meeting Point".
At BAU 2013, too, there will again be an open-air exhibition area, to the north of Hall B5. Presented here, amongst other things, will be the Solar House with which the team from RWTH Aachen won a prize in the Solar Decathlon Competition in Madrid.
In the area of the East Entrance the National Team of the German Building Trades will be training for World Skills, the professional world championships for the skilled trades. Bricklayers, plasterers, tilers and carpenters will be rolling their sleeves up and getting down to some training in front of the audience at BAU.
