According to prognoses, the shortage of electric energy in Russia may total 20 gW by year 2010, says "Business Peterburg".

The experts of World Bank suggest that instead of major construction project of new electric power plants it would be better to raise the energy efficiency. According to official statistics, the growth rate of energy demand in Russia is approximately 4-5% annually.
