"Rigas udens" specialists cannot predict how much ground would be scoured out by water beneath the asphalt cover, therefore only public transportation vehicles will be permitted to cross the hazardous section.
Mucenieks called on drivers to plan other routes traveling in and out of the city today taking into account the complicated situation expected in the afternoon.
The best route in the direction to Adazi would be round Kisezers Lake through Jaunciems to Carnikava, whereas in the direction of Sigulda - along Bikernieku Street through Breksi and along Lubana Street to Ulbroka in order to reach the Vidzeme Highway.
Driving through Jugla, back-ups are expected.
Mucenieks pointed out that work could continue this weekend. Water supply has been resumed in central Riga for the most part but there still could be problems in apartments of upper floors.
