"Transport and Logistics 2002" fair opens
Today, Minister of Transport Anatolijs Gorbunovs officially opened the fair "Transport and Logistics 2002" in Riga.
Today, Minister of Transport Anatolijs Gorbunovs officially opened the fair "Transport and Logistics 2002" in Riga.
The minister stressed that the role of the transport sector is increasing in Latvia and in a couple of years, Latvia would become part of the joint European transport system.
Latvian truckers are already ready for the joint European market from environmental and safety aspects, however, numerous problems are to be solved in the sector, Gorbunovs admitted.
The purpose of the fair is to promote direct contacts between Latvian transport and transit service companies and potential foreign partners. Particular attention would be paid to cooperation with Russia and CIS countries.
The companies whose line is trucking and storage of cargo may show their products and services at the fair representing all types of transport - naval, trucks, aviation, railroad, pipelines.
Information on services of transport companies and dispatchers, terminals, warehouses, financial and data management is available.
Lectures and seminars are scheduled on various themes pertaining to policies on border crossing permits, customs and other legal issues.
Within the framework of the fair, an annual meeting of the association "Latvijas auto" is planned at the international exhibition center at Kipsala. The conference on cooperation with Russia and CIS countries is scheduled.
The Ministry of Transport backs organization of the fair and the conference.
The fairs "Automehanika 2002" (Auto Mechanics 2002), "Motocikls 2002" (Motorcycle 2002) and "Boat Show 2002" are being held at Kipsala in tandem as well.
