"Triangula bastions" - most appalling modern architecture site - Ameriks
The new shopping and office center "Triangula bastions" in Old Town Riga (11. novembra krastmala) is the most appalling example of modern architecture, which changes the look of Old Town, Riga City Council City Development Committee Chairman Andris Ameriks said in an interview on Latvian State Radio.

Ameriks pointed out that he had attempted to halt the project, requesting more public debate. However, his attempts failed since the decision on construction of the center was adopted already by the previous city council. Formally, there was no legal basis for blocking the project.
The councilman pointed out that several architects have said that razing the building would be the best solution.
Ameriks reminded that an interim permit has been issued for commercial utilization of the building, however, and if the project is not completed according to schedule, utilization of the center would be halted.
