U.S. company ready to invest USD 400 million in ice hockey arena construction in Riga
The American company "Studio 6" is ready to invest up to USD 400 million (LVL 383.4 million) in the construction of the planned ice hockey arena in Riga.
The American company "Studio 6" is ready to invest up to USD 400 million (LVL 383.4 million) in the construction of the planned ice hockey arena in Riga.
As LETA was told by "Studio 6" President Goran Takac, according to estimates, the construction of the sports complex, including athletic facilities, restaurants, hotel, swimming pool, could total USD 350 million to 400 million.
Takac stressed that the Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) principle would be utilized in implementation of the project according to which about a 15-year period for justifying expenses for the construction of the arena would be needed but profit could be expected after that in next 15 years.
The "Studio 6" president pointed out that government support is necessary for obtaining profit sooner in adjusting tax breaks for imported supply for the construction of the arena. Besides, the government would receive 49 percent of the total profit.
"Studio 6" predicts that at least 35 percent of total work would be carried out by local companies. "Studio 6" is the American-based construction design company which has implemented its projects in Europe, China, Taiwan and Australia.
The potential construction company of the ice hockey arena today presented its project. The investor group comprises three representatives from Switzerland, two - from the United States and French companies. It is expected that arena will have 12,000 seats.
